The University awarded a contract for ID Now supplies.
Purchase of supplies for the operation of the ID Now point of care testing instruments used in the Emergency Department of the Hospital. This will serves as a rapid screen of patients for Flu, Strep A and RSV.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) This point of care testing will allow for rapid identification of patients with flu, strep A, or RSV presenting in the emergency department (ED). It helps improve triage, treatment, and reduces patient time spent in the ED.
