The University awarded a contract for disposable medical supply kits.
LSL Healthcare offers disposable supplies/kits that encompass everything a doctor or clinician would need to start an IV or a standard dressing change. The kits by LSL are IV start and standard dressing change kits. IV start kits Single-use sterile IV Start Kit includes supplies for IV catheter site preparation and dressing change: Tegaderm dressing, ChloraPrep Sepp Applicator, latex-free tourniquet, gauze dressing, medical tape, and site label. Standard dressing change kits Complete set of wound-care supplies, equipment, and infection-prevention supplies. Kit includes a personal protection set, disposable bag barrier, sterile exam gloves, and waterless hand cleaner.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) LSL Healthcare, Incorporated medical supplies are used in direct patient care. Without access to these specific supplies the hospital would not be able to offer proper patient care that would drive patients elsewhere and result in a loss of revenue to the Hospital.
