The University awarded a contract for chatbot development.
Chatbot development for use in research study.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) This procurement will enable us to maximize recruitment and retention efforts in our RECOVER study which is a huge national long-covid study funded by the NIH. UIC was selected to coordinate and conduct the research for all of Illinois. Success in our efforts will allow the University to gain additional research awards for mechanistic studies, remote monitoring evaluations, and clinical trials that are now being solicited by the NIH.
