The University awarded a contract for Surgical light medical equipment device.
Surgical light medical equipment device used to illuminate the operating field during surgery. A piece of equipment used for a wide variety of procedures within a single space, complete with multiple devices, video routing systems, and digital imaging.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) Surgical lights provide the surgical team with bright, consistent lighting focused on the operation table during surgery. The primary function of surgical lighting is to illuminate the operative site on and/or within a patient for ideal visualization by operating room staff during a surgical procedure. With proper lighting, operating room staff can achieve a higher level of efficacy during surgery and reduce the risk of complications.
