The University awarded a contract for an economics expert.
Mr. Guerrero will serve as an expert on economics on the alcohol project for Vital Strategies, and Bloomberg Tobacco Tax Project at the Institute for Health Research and Policy and its grantees.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) This procurement is in the best interests of the University because it ensures that our team deliver the specific outputs required by the funder through the $4 million grant by Bloomberg Philanthropies and $500,000 grant by Vital Strategies.
