The University awarded a contract for Terra Dotta proprietary software.
Terra Dotta's Study Abroad and AlertTraveler solutions are the leading applications in the field of education abroad for managing programs, student applications, and risk management for education abroad. Prior to having this software, student applications were paper and inefficient. Especially considering the university's reporting needs and duty of care obligations, it is essential that the university have a flexible online database in which it can house information about its education abroad programs and students who participate.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for procurement expenditures for any ongoing software license or maintenance agreement or competitively solicited software purchase, when the software, license, or maintenance agreement is available through only the software creator or its manufacturer and not a reseller ( 30 ILCS 500/1-13 (b)(10)) This is ongoing proprietary software.
