The University awarded a contract for a RFID-enabled inventory management solution.
KitCheck Software is a RFID-enabled inventory management solution. KitCheck helps modernize and automate time-consuming and inefficient restocking processes to reduce restocking time, minimize drug expirations, optimize kit and tray contents based on actual usage and improve patient safety.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) This software allows pharmacists, technicians, nurses, and physicians to gain insight on matters such as pharmaceutical inventory and usage. This service also helps prevent restocking errors and identifies recalled or expired medication. If the service isn't provided, it will cause inventory issues downstream which will significantly impact the quality of care to patients. This can include delaying surgery, increasing the likelihood of medication errors, and negatively impacting revenue.
