The University awarded a contract for beyfortus immunization 50mg and 100mg vials.
Beyfortus is recommended by the CDC for all infants younger than 8 months of age entering their first RSV season, and children 8-19 months who are at high risk for RSV entering their second RSV season.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) This product is in high demand, and in short supply. Ordering direct from Sanofi Pasteur is our only option for now, until the supplies are sufficient to allow ordering from our wholesaler where we normally purchase vaccines.
