The University awarded a contract for a premium ultrasound system.
The Samsung HERA W10 Elite premium ultrasound system for women's imaging will be used to obtain ultrasound images that help with diagnosis and treatment.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) The ultrasound equipment is used for direct patient care by obstetricians and gynecologists. Without access to this equipment, UI Health would not be able to offer life saving and preventative medical treatment to our patients.
