The University awarded a contract for a washer disinfector.
The Amsco 7052HP washer disinfector offers high impingement washing that powers away soils while providing compliant thermal disinfection. Touchscreen controls allow easy operation for cleaning and intermediate-level disinfection of reusable surgical instruments and utensils.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) Using a washer disinfector is one of the best ways to clean and disinfect reusable medical instruments. Without access to these washers, UI Health would not be able to offer life saving and preventative surgeries to our patients.
