The University awarded a contract for a specialized staffing agency.
WalkerHealthcare LLC is a specialized staffing agency that will provide temporary pharmacists and pharmacy techs for the central pharmacy at UI Health.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) Due to several vacancies within the department, there are not enough staffing to continue operations as needed. Walkerhealthcare LLC allows the hospital to continue operations when departments within the hospital are of need of drugs to be dispensed. Without their help, the current staff will not be able to keep up with the needs of the hospital causing the loss of revenue and stress on the pharmacy team that can lead to more vacancies.
