The University awarded a contract for a BC43 Benchtop Confocal Microscope.
This purchase is for a refurbished BC43 benchtop confocal microscope for research.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) The equipment will be used for this project in order to complete the funded research work. This in turn will create the potential for additional federally sponsored projects, publication in scientific journals, and continue to promote the University as a premier research and teaching entity.
