The University awarded a contract for a fluorescence microscope.
Fluorescence Microscope. This microscope will be used for research by multiple faculty members.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) This purchase is in the best interest of the University because of three major reasons (1) Cost (2) Research of multiple faculty will benefit from this microscope, and finally, (3) this microscope will be an excellent tool for teaching graduate students.
