The University awarded a contract for disposable medical supplies.
Disposable products such as infant face masks, electrocardiogram leads, infant nasal cannulas and heat exchange filters. An electrocardiogram (ECG leads) is a graphic recording of the changes occurring in the electrical potentials between different sites on the skin (leads) as a result of cardiac activity. The nasal cannula (NC) is a device used to deliver supplementaloxygen or increased airflow to a patient or person in need of respiratory help. This device consists of a lightweight tube which on one end splits into two prongs which are placed in the nostrils and from which a mixture of air and oxygen flows. Humid-Vent Filters are high-performance heat and moisture exchangers (HMEs) that are coupled with hydrophobic bacterial/viral breathing filters which filters the oxygen that a patient is breathing.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical at a university-operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment, and medications for students, faculty and staff (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) Disposable products such as infant face masks, electrocardiogram leads, infant nasal cannulas and heat exchange filters.
