The University awarded a contract for An Ultrasound Unit.
This equipment is used for medical purposes. Specifically, this ultrasound unit will be used for diagnosis of breast lesions as well as for biopsy purposes in the treatment of breast disease.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) This equipment used in health care will allow us to increase our capability to provide diagnostic breast imaging for our patients.
