The University awarded a contract for Anesthesia Machines.
Anesthesia Machines - The Aisys CS2 anesthesia system is designed for mixing and delivering inhalation anesthetics, Air, O2, and N2O. This is used for spontaneously breathing patients. These advanced features allow for the ventilation of a broad patient range. The system is intended to provide general inhalation anesthesia and ventilator to a wide range of patients (Neonate, Pediatric, and Adult).
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) Without these specialized machines the hospital would not be able to offer the proper patient care, which in turn would drive patients elsewhere and result in a loss in revenue to the hospital.
