The University awarded a contract for housing services for patients.
Illinois Medical District (IMD) Guest House provides housing services for our patients who travel greater than 50 miles for treatment, workup, and/or aftercare to reamian close to their healthcare provider and/or health system for the administration of care (i.e. Organ transplant, Nuerology, Optometry, Orthopedic, Cardiology, Hematology, Gastronintestinal, Sickle Cell, Stem Cell Bone Marrow Transplant, and Cancer related diseases).
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) The procurement will help underserved patients to quality healthcare.
