The University awarded a contract for interim staffing.
Provision to the hospital with interim staffing of clinical leaders/certified nurse professionals with specific clinical knowledge in a particular field (i.e., adolescent & adult psychiatry, Organ Transplant, Neurology, Neonatal care etc.) to support clinicians, staff & assist in direct patient care within the hospital.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) The University currently does not have a mechanism to bring this level of clinical talent into the institution on an interim basis in such a quick manner.
