The University awarded a contract for a termination fee.
UIC is terminating its membership in the Horizon League Conference as of 1/26/22. In doing so, per the conference agreement, UIC must pay a mandatory exit fee.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for athletic, artistic or musical services, performances, events, or productions by or for a public institution of higher education. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(4)) The termination of membership to the Horizon League allows UIC to enter the Missouri Valley Conference beginning 7/1/22.
