The University awarded a contract for ophthalmic diagnostic instrument.
Silverstone is the latest Optos technology that incorporates the first ever Ultra-Wide fundus camera with an integrated swept source OCT (Optical Coherence Technology) all-in-one unit. This is a diagnostic instrument the Physicians use to diagnose and detect diseases.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) This latest technology from Optos will provide the highest level of care to UIC patients, while providing the Physicians the most advanced tool to precisely manage and create individual treatment plans for their patients.
