The University awarded a contract for Ingenuity Pathway Analysis Software.
Ingenuity Pathway Analysis (IPA) is pathway analysis software, which is owned and developed by Qiagen. There are no other vendors who offer the same product. IPA includes highly curated molecular interactions database with many applications in biomedical research. It also includes statistical and informatics tools to enable researchers to interrogate the databases for a variety of purposes. IPA is regularly cited as a gold-standard systems biology application in top biomedical research publications.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) Because IPA provides systems biology analysis for a wide range of genomics applications, it is used by the Research Informatics Core (RIC) in RRC in the regular conduct of research operations, as well as by a number of RIC customers for their research.
