Project Description
Life safety renovations include upgrading the fire alarm notification system throughout the entire building (both audible and visual) and including new audio and visual devices. The design and installation of a new automatic fire suppression system (sprinklers) throughout the entire lower level, including the auditorium, and first floor South Lobby, but excluding the electrical vault. Spline ceilings at the lower level and main floor corridors will be replaced with dropped ceilings as shown on the drawings, and existing services (HVAC, exit lighting, etc.) will be extended to the new ceiling. Exterior work will include the addition of approximately 125 sf of sidewalk from the bottom of the south Library exterior exit stair to the sidewalk at the bike parking area at the East side of the building. Wayfinding includes interior signage throughout the building and renovations to all elevator lobbies on all floors. The existing reception area and back office are being renovated. Finishes are upgraded in the north and south lobby, and the corridor that connects the two areas. Two digital display monitors will be located at either end of the corridor. New furniture will be provided for the south lobby on the main floor and benches will be created in the existing main floor locker alcoves, after demolishing existing areas of lockers. ACM removal is involved in approximately 70 sf of ceiling tiles, and most of the floor tile and mastic. See section 02 82 13 for additional information. This Project is located at: Music Building 1114 W. Nevada St. Urbana, IL 61801.
