The University awarded a contract for DASbox Mini Bioreactor System.
Bioreactor system needed for continuous culturing, parallel testing, and multiplex control of microbial cultures in order to successfully carry out the proposed research and achieve the desired research milestones.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) Research on both DARPA and DOE funding grants will be unable to proceed without this equipment.
