The University awarded a contract for Telephone repair work, maintenance and services..
This emergency/quick purchase was required due to a situation in which immediate action was needed to prevent any disruption in University services.
The University has a critical need to retain its current telecommunications vendor, AT&T, for telephone repair work, maintenance, and services. Without continuous telecommunications maintenance service, the campus community will lack support to handle outages, repairs and adds, moves, changes for the campus community. The university’s ability to communicate internally and externally is in jeopardy. A State of Illinois bid was issued by the department of ITD - Network Infrastructure in May and again in August of 2010 for a telecommunications maintenance agreement. The first bid resulted in two responses with one of the applicants being disqualified for lack of submission of bid documents required by IPHEC. By request of CSU's Board of Trustees, a second solicitation went out for bid. The second solicitation had only two responses and neither vendor proposals adequately met Chicago State University critical need for support of all repairs and services indicated in the RFP. The new telecommunications RFP will be broken into two separate bids. One bid will request voice and data cabling coverage and the second bid will request services for telecommunications CPE (customer premise equipment). In addition, the bid time frame will be extended to twenty-one days instead of fifteen. The new scope will allow more participants to submit bids and CSU the opportunity to procure telephone services that would be more efficient and effective.
