Description of Project
Chicago State University requests submission of qualifications of architectural firms experienced and competent in the provision of services related to program development, analysis, design, construction documentation and contract administration of child care and school facilities; which will house full day, full-year child care programs for children birth to twelve years of age, and a primary school for grades K through 3. The child care building will be a newly constructed one-story structure in a style consistent with other university structures, consisting of approximately 30,000 square feet. The facility will accommodate classrooms, offices, conference rooms, a gross motor room, a kitchen computer lab, observation rooms, a gymnasium, a multi-purpose cafeteria/auditorium and other administrative/support space. Sufficient outdoor play areas for each age group will also be included.

Qualifications for Submission
Minimum submission of qualification data for consideration requires the following criteria:

  • Relevant experience designing child care centers and early childhood schools in urban environments
  • Relevant experience working with a public university, other publicly funded institutions or nonprofit organizations
  • Management approach, organization, and agency interface including staffing and technology
  • Construction cost estimating and control procedures
  • Identification and credentials of key team members to be committed to this project
  • Representation of firms workload and capacity to perform services under an agrressive completion schedule
  • Licensed to practice as an architect/engineer in the State of Illinois.
  • Prequalified with the State of Illinois Capital Development Board
  • Registered and authorized to do business in the State of Illinois
  • Utilization of AutoCad compatible system
  • Submission and Review
    Firms should submit 4 copies of the following: a letter of interest, a copy of its CDB prequalification letter, and a 255 form (use CDB SF 255 dated 6/25/02) by 2:00 P.M. CST, Thursday, October 31, 2002, to the above contact.
