Eastern Illinois University is accepting electrical and sprinkler bids for the Fire Protection Upgrade Project at Andrews and Lawson Halls.

There will be a pre-bid conference in the Basement Level of Andrews Hall, on January 16th, 2007 at 10:30 a.m.
The electrical contract work involves installation of a new fire alarm control panel, change out of existing initiating devices and annunciators, and installation of flow and tamper switches at the zone control valves.

Fire protection work involves installation of a new wet-pipe sprinkler system in the Andrews and Lawson dormitories. Total area to be sprinkled is approximately 200,000 square feet. The project will be constructed over Summer 2007 and Summer 2008. This also involves the installation of a new 8" domestic water main from an on-site main into the north tower basement of Andrews Hall, a distance of approximately 50 feet. The Fire Protection Contractor is also responsible for new diffusers and grilles to be installed in the new ceilings at the Basement and First Floor levels.
EIU Renovations/Alterations will remove existing concealed spline ceilings and install lay-in ceilings at the Basement and First Floor as indicated on the drawings and will remove and replace lay-in corridor ceilings at all resident floor levels. Renovations/Alterations will be performing other work within the building during the time of the contruction.

There will be a $100 refundable deposit for plans/specifications obtained from CityBlue Technologies. Make check payable to Henneman Engineering, Inc., and mail the check to CityBlue Technologies. The deposit will be refunded when the plans/specifications are returned to CityBlue Technologies within 14 days of the bid date. Do not mail returned plans/specifications to Henneman Engineering, Inc. They must be returned to CityBlue Technologies.
