The Board of Trustees of Eastern Illinois University hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the asbestos abatement for hot water piping replacement at Lincoln and Douglas Halls project (Bid # FR012961).
Eastern Illinois University is accepting bids for the above asbestos abatement project, which includes Asbestos Abatement Worked required to replace the domestic hot water piping system in Lincoln & Douglas Halls. (The successful asbestos abatement bidder will be an assigned contractor to the plumbing contractor.)
The scope of work includes the asbestos abatement of acoustical plaster, floor tile and mastic, pipe and pipe fitting insulation from domestic water piping, at various locations within the Lincoln & Douglas Halls located on the campus of Eastern Illinois University. This project is being bid as a single asbestos abatement contract although EIU will assign the contract for coordination purposes only to the coordinating contractor, identified as the plumbing contractor.

There is a refundable plan deposit of $50 per set.
All bids from contractors must be on the bid proposal form included in the Project Manual. Bidders must submit their bids in accordance with the bidding instructions in Section 00100. The entire bid form must be completed in order to be considered. Failure to complete the entire bid form may result in bid not being accepted.
Bid security in a dollar amount equal to five percent of the bid submitted must accompany each bid in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. Each bidder must have completed the qualification requirements in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. Statutory bonds for performance of the contract and for payment of mechanics and materials will be required in an amount equal to 100 percent of the accepted bid.
Bids will be held good and may not be withdrawn for a period of 60 calendar days from the date of receipt.
All contractors must pay employees involved with construction on this project not less than the prevailing wage rate.
Eastern Illinois University specifically reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any informalities in the bidding and to accept bids which, in its judgment, will be for its own best interest.
Bidders are advised approximately thirty to sixty days may elapse between a vendor''s submissions of bill and the payment of such bill.
Sealed envelopes containing the bids will be marked asbestos abatement for hot water piping replacement at Lincoln and Douglas Halls. Bids will be received up to the hour of 2:00 PM local time, on Wednesday, December 12, 2001. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.
