The Board of Trustees of Eastern Illinois University requests submission of qualifications from interested engineers/architects to design the Weller Hall Air Conditioning and Triad Utilities upgrade. Work will include the addition of window a/c units and upgrading mechanical/electrical systems in the building much like was done in the adjacent Ford and McKinney Halls. Utility work includes replacement of the steam and condensate Ricwil systems, domestic cold water line, and high voltage ductbank systems from near Booth to McKinney. EIU is experiencing failures in the Ricwil system presently. The budget for this project is approximately $775,000 and will be provided by EIU.
The successful design firm will consist of experienced and talented engineers/architects knowledgeable in University mechanical, electrical, and utility systems. The University will use a structured process to select the design firm as well as oversee the design effort.
The University will begin evaluating submissions from interested design firms on October 6, 2003 with the intent to select a firm by October 13, 2003. Submit two copies of requested Statement of Qualifications to QBS Committee, Facilities Planning and Management, Eastern Illinois University, 600 E. Lincoln Ave., Charleston, IL 61920-3099. Questions regarding details of the project may be directed to Mr. Karl Helmink, Staff Engineer, 217-581-3520.
