The Board of Trustees of Eastern Illinois University hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the deck repair and replacement project.

This project consists of the demolition and replacement of the southeast entrance concrete stairs and deck. The concrete deck is approximately 1250 square feet with a mechanical room below. At the northeast entrance deck, the removal and replacement of several pre-cast panels and approximately 880 square feet of concrete deck and 2000 square foot of concrete slab on grade constitute a portion of the project that will be bid by an alternate bid.

A pre-bid conference will be scheduled at the Facilities Planning and Management Building Conference Room at 10:00 A.M., March 30, 2004.

Drawings and specifications on file for reference at the following locations: Dodge Offices in Springfield, IL & St. Louis, MO; Peoria Contractors Association, Peoria, IL; Southern Illinois Builders Association, Belleville, IL; Facilities Planning and Management Building, Eastern Illinois University; and Hance, Utz & Associates, LLC, Architects, 1013 S. 19th Street, Mattoon, IL.

Drawings and specifications for this project may be obtained from Hance, Utz & Associates, LLC, Architects, 1013 S. 19th Street, Mattoon, Illinois, 61938, by depositing $50 for each set up to two sets. Actual bidders will be refunded their deposit for the first two sets. Non-bidders will be refunded $25 per set for the first two sets. Subcontractors (Contractors not bidding direct to owner) and material supplies will be charged $25 (NON-REFUNDABLE) for each set or actual printing costs for portion of sets.

All bids from Contractors must be on the 'Bid Proposal' included in the Project Manual. Bidders must submit their bids in accordance with the bidding instructions in Section 00100. The entire bid form must be completed in order to be considered.

Bid security in a dollar amount equal to five percent of the bid submitted must accompany each bid in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. Each bidder must have completed the qualification requirements in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. Statutory bonds for performance of the contract and for payment of mechanics and materials will be required in an amount equal to 100 percent of the accepted bid.

Bids will be held good and may not be withdrawn for a period of sixty calendar days from the date of receipt.

All contractors must pay employees involved with construction on this project not less than the prevailing wage rate.

Eastern Illinois University specifically reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any informalities in the bidding and to accept bids which, in its judgment, will be for its own best interest.

Bidders are advised approximately thirty to sixty days may elapse between a vendor's submission of bill and the payment of such bill.

Bids will be received up to the hour of 2:00 PM local time, on Tuesday, April 6, 2004. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.
