Project Description
The Board of Trustees of Eastern Illinois University requests submission of qualifications from interested engineers/architects to design the addition of sprinkler systems in several housing buildings including: Carman, Stevenson, Taylor, Lawson, Andrews, Thomas, and other buildings on campus which are not presently protected with a wet pipe sprinkler system. Work will include the design of the sprinkler systems, fire pumps, fire alarm system revisions, water main extensions, stairwell door hardware revisions, and asbestos removal work. This project consists of approximately 930,000 sq. ft. and will take multiple years (3-5 approx.) and project phases to complete. Several of these buildings are high rises and fire pumps will be required. The project will be phased to typically complete one or several building at a time during a summer.

The successful design firm will consist of experienced and talented engineers/architects knowledgeable in University fire protection systems. The University will use a structured process to select the design firm as well as oversee the design effort.

The University will begin evaluating submissions from interested design firms on June 4, 2004 with the intent to select a firm by June 25, 2004. Submit two copies of requested Statement of Qualifications to QBS Committee, Facilities Planning and Management, Eastern Illinois University, 600 E. Lincoln Ave., Charleston, IL 61920-3099.
