The Board of Trustees of Eastern Illinois University hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the heating and fire protection for the Student Recreation toilet remodeling project (Bid # KR010275).
The project consists of duct revisions, exhaust system installation, temperature control revisions and revisions to the existing sprinkler system. The general work, plumbing work, and electrical work will be performed by the owner.
This project will add a men''s and women''s restroom and dressing room to the Student Recreation Center. A janitor''s closet will be added also. EIU renovation and alteration construction personnel shall provide the general, plumbing, and electrical work. A mechanical contractor shall provide a new exhaust system and provide the indicated revisions in the existing ductwork system. A sprinkler contractor shall revise the existing sprinkler system in the area of construction.

Depositing $50 (refundable to bidders), payable to Harold L. Fox & Associates.
Refunds will only be given for plans returned in good condition, without marks. Plans must be returned to Harold L. Fox & Associates within ten days of faxed notification of award to bidders.
All bids from contractors must be on the "Bid Proposal Form" included in the Project Manual. Bidders must submit their bids in accordance with the bidding instructions in Section 00100. The entire Bid Form must be completed in order to be considered.
Bid security in a dollar amount equal to five percent of the bid submitted must accompany each bid in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. Each bidder must have completed the qualification requirements in accordance with the Instruction to Bidders. Statutory bonds for performance of the contract and for payment of mechanics and materials will be required in an amount equal to 100 percent of the accepted bid.
Bids will be held good and may not be withdrawn for a period for 60 calendar days from the date of receipt.
All contractors must pay employees involved with construction on this project not less than the prevailing wage rate.
Eastern Illinois University specifically reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any informalities in the bidding and to accept bids which, in its judgment, will be for its own best interest.
Bidders are advised approximately thirty to sixty days may elapse between a vendor''s submission of bill and the payment of such bill.
Sealed envelopes containing the bids will be marked heating and fire protection for the Student Recreation toilet remodeling. Bids will be received up to the hour of 2:00 PM local time, on Thursday, May 31, 2001. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.

A "pre-bid" conference will be scheduled at the Facilities Planning & Management Building conference room at 9:30 A.M. for EIU RA and at 11:00 A.M. for HVAC and Fire Protection Contractors on May 24, 2001.
