The Board of Trustees of Eastern Illinois University hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the Tarble Arts Center expansion project (Bid # KR018340-a).

Sealed bids for Plumbing, Ventilation, Heating and Electrical Work will be received until December 10, 2002, 2:00 P.M. prevailing time in the Office of the Director of Purchases, Room 1135 Old Main, at which time they will be opened and read publicly.

Sealed bids for General Work will be received until December 12, 2002, 2:00 P.M. prevailing time in the above mentioned office, at which time they will be opened and read publicly.

The scope of work will consist of construction of a one story masonry clad addition to the existing Arts Center including lobby space, gallery space, office space, a meeting room, toilet rooms, and catering kitchen area.

A pre-bid conference will be scheduled at EIU Facilities Planning and Management Office, 600 Lincoln Avenue, Charleston, at 1:00 P.M. on November 26, 2002.

Drawings and specifications will be available on file for reference on November 12, 2002, at the following locations:

All bids from contractors must be on the "Bid Proposal Form" included in the Project Manual. Bidders must submit their bids in accordance with the bidding instructions in Section 00100. The entire Bid Form must be completed in order to be considered.

Bid security in a dollar amount equal to five percent of the bid submitted must accompany each bid in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. Each bidder must have completed the qualification requirements in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. Statutory bonds for performance of the contract and for payment of mechanics and materials will be required in an amount equal to 100% of the accepted bid.

Bids will be held good and may not be withdrawn for a period of 60 calendar days from the date of receipt.

All contractors must pay employees involved with construction on this project not less than the prevailing wage rate.

Eastern Illinois University specifically reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any informalities in the bidding and to accept bids which, in its judgment, will be for its own best interest.

Bidders are advised approximately thirty to sixty days may elapse between a vendor''s submission of bill and the payment of such bill.

Sealed envelopes containing the bids will be marked Tarble Arts Center expansion. Bids will be received up to the hour of 2:00 PM local time, on Tuesday, December 10, 2002. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.

All bids must include:

  • All bidders must submit a PC-2 form as required by the Illinois Department of Human Rights.
