The Board of Trustees of Eastern Illinois University hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the Blair Hall fire damage repair project.
A pre-bid conference will be scheduled at the Facilities Planning and Management Building Conference Room at 10:00 A.M., August 4, 2004. At the conclusion of this meeting, a tour of Blair Hall will be conducted, allowing contractors access to the building.
This project consists of the construction of new third floor wall partitions, roof structure and temporary roofing for the existing building previously damaged by fire. Construction shall include the installation of metal studs, steel roof framing, metal decking, rigid roof insulation, wood sheathing and liquid applied membrane roofing system. The roofing work shall incorporate approximately 88 squares of roofing and include copper flashing materials and the restoration of the existing limestone parapet coping. Demolition will consist of the removal of raised floor areas, finish floor materials, remaining wood partitions and miscellaneous building materials.

A deposit of $75 for each set up to 2 sets is required. Actual bidders will be refunded their deposit for the first two sets. Non-bidders will be refunded $35.00 per set for the first 2 sets. Subcontractors (Contractors not bidding direct to owner) and material suppliers will be charged $35 (NON-REFUNDABLE) for each set or actual printing costs for portions of sets.
All bids from contractors must be on the 'Bid Proposal Form' included in the Project Manual. Bidders must submit their bids in accordance with the bidding instructions in Section 00100. The entire bid form must be completed in order to be considered.
Bid security in a dollar amount equal to five percent of the bid submitted must accompany each bid in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. Each bidder must have completed the qualification requirements in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. Statutory bonds for performance of the contract and for payment of mechanics and materials will be required in an amount equal to 100 percent of the accepted bid.
Bids shall remain good and may not be withdrawn for a period of sixty (60) calendar days from the date of receipt.
All contractors must pay employees involved with construction on this project not less than the prevailing wage rate.
Eastern Illinois University specifically reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any technicalities in the bidding and to accept bids which, in its judgment will be in its own best interest.
Bidders are advised approximately thirty to sixty days may elapse between a vendor's submission of invoice and the payment of such invoice.
Bids will be received up to the hour of 2:00 PM local time, on Thursday, August 12, 2004. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.
