The Board of Trustees of Eastern Illinois University hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the fire protection upgrades at Carman Hall project.

Eastern Illinois University is accepting bids for the above project.

Sealed bids will be received until February 10, 2005, 2:00 P.M. prevailing time for the plumbing and electrical trades,and February 11, 2005, 2:00 P.M. for the fire protection trade, in the Office of the Director of Purchases, Room 1135 Old Main, at which time they will be opened and read publicly.

A pre-bid conference will be scheduled at Carman Hall's Copa Room on January 25, 2005 at 1:15 pm. The Copa Room is located in the basement of Carman Hall's South Tower. Carman Hall is located at the northeast corner of the intersection of Carman St. and Edgar Dr.

Plumbing contract work involves installation of a new 8" domestic water main from Edgar Avenue into the north tower basement of Carman Hall, a distance of approximately 500 feet. Electrical contract work involves installation of a new Simplex 4100 fire alarm control panel, change out of existing initiating devices and annunciators, and installation of flow and tamper switches at the zone control valves. Electrical contract also includes the complete installation of a new door security system in the two tower's stairwells. Fire protection contract work involves installation of a new wet-pipe sprinkler system in the 10 story Carman north and 9 story Carman south dormitories. Total area to be sprinkled is approximately 150,000 square feet. The project will be constructed over the Summer 2005 and Summer 2006.
