The Board of Trustees of Eastern Illinois University hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the addition to Lantz Arena project.
Eastern Illinois University is accepting bids for the above project. Sealed bids will be received until April 28, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. prevailing time, for each of the four prime contract trade divisions of project work of Plumbing, Heating/Piping/Temperature Control, Ventilation/Air Distribution and Electrical work in the Office of the Director of Purchases, Room 1135 Old Main, at which time they will be opened and read publicly. Sealed bids will be received until May 03, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. prevailing time, for prime contract trade division of General work, in the Office of the Director of Purchases, Room 1135 Old Main, at which time they will be opened and read publicly.
A pre-bid conference will be held at the EIU Recreation Building Conference Room, on April 14, 2005 at 2:30 P.M.
The project consists of a 4,870 gross square foot, second floor, addition; above the existing east single story wing of the Lantz Arena building. The existing single story wing structural system and precast concrete roof deck were previously designed and constructed to receive a subsequent second floor addition.
The work will consist of, but is not limited to: removal of existing BUR roofing, new second floor concrete topping over existing precast concrete roof deck, steel structural framing, face brick veneer and metal stud exterior walls, concrete block and face brick cavity exterior walls, metal stud and gypsum wallboard interior partitions, sloped metal roofing, flat modified bituminous roofing, aluminum storefront window and exterior door systems, interior wood doors with hollow metal frames, acoustical panel ceilings, carpet and vinyl tile flooring, plumbing for toilet rooms and water coolers; HVAC includes tying new hot water system into existing via existing capped connections, new indoor modular type air handling unit with hot water heating coil and chilled water cooling coils, chilled water coil utilizes the existing chilled water system, variable air volume system using low and medium pressure ductwork and hot water reheat type VAV boxes, direct digital temperature control tying into existing Operators Workstation, and partial pneumatic controls utilizing existing pneumatic air system; new electrical distribution panel fed from a new load side bus tap for a 480V-3phase ? 3 wire to a dry-type transformer for 208/120V secondary to a 120/208V panel for lights and receptacles, 2 x 4 troffer lighting with electronic ballasts, pendant lights, voice/data cable/cable tray/outlet terminations; fire alarm tie-in to existing; roof lightning protection.
The owner will receive sealed bids for the following five prime contract trade divisions of the project work: General, Plumbing, Heating/Piping/Temperature Control, Ventilation & Air Distribution, and Electrical. The contractor for the General Contract trade division of work shall perform as the coordinating contractor for the other prime contract trade divisions of the project work, in accordance with Article 5.7 of the Supplementary Conditions and Section 01041 of the Project Manual.

Bidding documents will be available approximately April 5, 2005. To obtain bidding documents: Fax and mail deposit to CBT Companies, Inc. Only complete sets of Bidding Documents will be issued by the architect/engineer.
Refundable bidding Documents deposit: $150 certified check, company check, or CIB/AGC card made payable to Henneman Raufeisen & Associates, Inc. will be accepted. The prime bidding contractor for general work may obtain up to three sets of bidding documents for a refundable deposit. The prime bidding contractor(s) for other work may obtain up to two sets of bidding documents, for a refundable deposit. The prime bidding contractor is defined as a prime contractor submitting a bid proposal to the owner on the bid form provided. Additional sets may be obtained by Prime Bidding Contractors and Subcontractors for a deposit of $150 per set with $0 being refundable. Such refundable deposits are the three sets for the General Construction and the two sets for the other Work, as described above will ONLY be refunded when the documents are returned in good condition within ten business days after the last applicable bid opening. Bidders requesting refunds must have submitted a bona fide bid to the owner. Return the bidding documents to CBT Companies, Inc. in order to have deposit returned. Awarded contractors must contact the architect/engineer for return of deposit within ten business days after award.
All bids from contractors must be on the bid proposal form included in the Project Manual. Bidders must submit their bids in accordance with the bidding instructions in Section 00100. The entire bid form must be completed in order to be considered.
Bid security in a dollar amount equal to five percent of the bid submitted must accompany each bid in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. Each bidder must have completed the qualification requirements in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. Statutory bonds for performance of the contract and for payment of mechanics and materials will be required in an amount equal to 100 percent of the accepted bid.
Bids will be held good and may not be withdrawn for a period of sixty calendar days from the date of receipt.
All contractors must pay employees involved with construction on this project not less than the prevailing wage rate.
Eastern Illinois University specifically reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any informalities in the bidding and to accept bids which, in its judgment, will be for its own best interest.
Bidders are advised approximately thirty to sixty days may elapse between a vendor?s submission of bill and the payment of such bill.
Bids will be received up to the hour of 2:00 PM local time, on Thursday, April 28, 2005. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.
