The Board of Trustees of Illinois State University hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the Watterson Towers Exterior Facade Rehabilitation, Phase VI project.
This project consists of the rehabilitation of a portion of the Watterson Towers dormitory. The existing structure is built of cast-in-place concrete frames and slabs and precast concrete wall panels with exposed aggregate surfaces. Many of the exterior cast-in-place concrete elements were constructed with insufficient concrete cover over the steel reinforcements. The reinforcement has subsequently corroded causing the adjacent concrete to delaminate, crack and spall. The existing steel window frame edges and precast wall panel edges has reached the end of its useful life. The sealant is cracked and leaks moisture. This project consistis of the following items: 1. Remove and patch all damaged concrete, 2. cover all concrete surfaces that currently have a coating with new acrylic coating, 3. remove and replace all existing joint sealant, 4. clean and repaint all steel window frames.
Sealed envelopes containing the bids will be marked Watterson Towers Exterior Facade Rehabilitation, Phase VI. Bids will be received up to the hour of 11:00 AM local time, on Wednesday, April 9, 2003. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.
