The Board of Trustees of Illinois State University hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the fire alram upgrade for Hovey Hall and Facility Services Building project.

Illinois State University is accepting prime bids from electrical contractors for this project. This project is the upgrade of the fire alarm system in Hovey Hall including replacement of the existing devices and wiring and installation of new devices and wiring. There will be installation of a new fire alarm system in the Facility Services Building and Associated Storage Building. The project completion date is April 30, 2006.

Bidding documents may be obtained from GHR Engineers and Associates, Inc., 1615 S. Neil St., Champaign, IL 61820, phone 217.356.0536. A plan deposit made payable to GHR Engineers and Associates, Inc. in the amount of $50 will be required of all contractors requesting plans. This deposit is refundable ONLY to those contractors who do submit a bid and return the plans and specifications in good condition within 10 days following the bid opening, or to those contractors who do not submit a bid, but return the plans and specifications to the Office of the A/E and are received not later than 7 days before the bid opening.

Sealed envelopes containing the bids will be marked fire alram upgrade for Hovey Hall and Facility Services Building. Bids will be received up to the hour of 2:00 PM local time, on Thursday, May 12, 2005. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.

All bids must include:

  • Bid security (see complete bid for details)
  • A letter from a surety company in substantially the form set forth in the Instructions to Bidders assuring the issuance of the Performance and Payment Bond.
  • All bidders must submit a PC-2 form as required by the Illinois Department of Human Rights.

A mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled for April 28, 2005, 1:30 PM CST, in 209 Hovey Hall, Illinois State University, Normal, IL. If you are planning to submit a prime bid for this project, you must attend this meeting and your company name must appear on the official attendance log. This log will be used in th bid opening process and if your company's name does not appear on the log, your bid will not be opened.
