Project Description
Illinois State University is seeking statements of qualifications from architects and engineers to perform design work on two separate work scopes.

The first scope involves renovation of the Julian Hall Data Center and upgrades to the mechanical systems. Julian Hall room 152 currently serves as one of the University's data centers. The needs for the University have changed and renovation of this space and upgrades to the HVAC systems have become necessary. This project will require an upgrade to the HVAC system, space envelope improvements, fire suppression system, security cameras, lighting and power. The new HVAC system will use campus chilled water via in-row cooling with aisle containment. All data center's cabinets, data cabling and data equipment will be designed and performed by others and will not be a part of this project, but requirements for this equipment will be considered in the design. The University requires Julian Hall 152 to remain fully functional throughout the project. Therefore construction will occur while the data center is in operation. All appropriate steps and precautions will be taken to maintain data center function within specific environmental parameters.

The second scope involves conducting an engineering analysis and producing a report on the existing data center located in Stevenson Hall 7D. This evaluation will include room size, growth potential, data capacity, HVAC redundancy, appropriateness of location, and applicable state of the art technology.

As a project funded by the University, the following are required:

Complete A/E 3D Building Information Modeling (BIM) during the entire design process
