The swimming pool at the Metcalf Laboratory School on the Illinois State University campus has been closed since July 2014. At the time the pool was closed because a significant amount of water was leaking from the pool. Constructed in 1955, the pool underwent a basin repair project in 2000 to address voids under the basin and resealing the pool construction joints (perimeter and lateral joints). Inspection efforts with a drain line camera indicates severe corrosion and blockages in the pool drain system, which has received no work since its construction.
The scope of this work will require a thorough investigation of the existing pool water supply, water treatment system, and drainage system utilizing destructive and non-destructive techniques. Upon completion of the investigation a report outlining the current condition, required code and IDPH upgrades, and recommendations, along with cost estimates for each recommendation. Upon selection of a recommendation and securing of funding, Construction Documents, accommodating all applicable code and State agency requirements for pool repair/installation work, will be prepared for public bidding. The selected designer will continue participation throughout the construction process conducting construction administrative services to ensure repairs are properly completed.
The scope will include recommendations for improvements or required repairs to the pool room?s finishes, building envelope, mechanical and electrical systems, and program support areas.
As a project funded by the University, the following are required: ?Complete A/E 3D Building Information Modeling (BIM) during the entire design process
