Illinois State University is seeking statements of qualifications from architectural and engineering firms interested in providing design services for the renovation of Capen Auditorium in Edwards Hall. This project will provide for life/safety improvements as well as: the repainting of the space, modifications to the stage area to lessen the down time between the removal of the movie screen and other uses of the stage, replacement of the seats, replacement of carpet, replacement of the acoustical curtains, and improved technology. Improvements will also be made to return the space to its original grandeur by replacing the opaque window panels (installed more than 20 years ago, and now in need of replacement) with a system of windows and draperies that will allow for the presentation of movies as well as other types of presentations.
The estimated cost for this project is $1,564,000.
