Project Description

Illinois State University is seeking statement of qualifications from elevator consultant firms interested in providing on-site review and evaluation, along with planning and design services for upgrades and improvements to the eight elevators in the 28 story Watterson Towers high-rise residence hall occupied by approximately 2,000 residents on the main campus. Firms should be familiar with elevator equipment usage demands for high-rise buildings in a university housing environment as well as the wide range of hoist-way conditions found in the temperate climate of central Illinois. The range of services to be provided include assessment of existing conditions, recommendations for remedial work, design, construction specifications and documents including warranty phase requirements, and estimated costs for completion of required project work.

At a minimum, upgrades and improvements will include replacing non-proprietary open market controls and wiring as required, with recommendations to be provided for replacement of roller guides, door operators, hallway doors and machines where required based on long-term dependability needs.

This work is currently planned to be completed in two phases, during the summers of 2020 and 2021.

Elevator consultant firms interested in submitting their professional qualifications should have demonstrated knowledge and experience with elevator control and elevator equipment upgrade projects in high rise higher education residential facilities of this nature. No project costs have been established for this project at this time. The elevator consultant will be responsible for including necessary engineers and any other support consultants to develop a complete project design and budget as their design progresses.
