Project Description
Illinois State University is seeking professional architectural and engineering services from firms who are experienced in the design and construction of tensioned fabric, steel framed structures.
The Athletic department at Illinois State University is intending to provide an indoor practice facility for the Redbird football team. While primarily for football practices, it will also serve baseball, softball and golf by providing select pieces of equipment to accommodate those sports. The facility will be large enough to accommodate a full 100 yard field with suitable run-off space. Netting and curtain systems will be designed to segregate the field as needed for offense, defense, and special teams practices. The facility should provide defined areas that can be isolated for a golf driving range and baseball/softball batting practice, and other sports when not in use by the football team.
The building shall have environmental conditioning for year-round use. Currently it is envisioned that locker rooms will be provided elsewhere, however restrooms of suitable sizes will be provided. Storage, as determined during design, will also be part of the complex. Site work and utility extensions will be a part of the construction.
The University has identified three qualified manufacturers that can provide a tensioned fabric, steel framed practice facility (Legacy Building Systems, Rubb Sports Facilities, and Vertical Buildings). The facility will be designed to allow for each of these manufacturers to be able to submit a competitive bid for this facility.
Architecture, Interior Design and Engineering firms interested in submitting their qualifications should have demonstrated knowledge experience, and expertise with facilities of this typology. The designers and any required sub-consultants will be responsible for developing a comprehensive construction budget and schedule for this project.
As a project funded by the University, the following are required:
? Complete A/E 3D Building Information Modeling (BIM) during the entire design process
