The University awarded a contract for a portable incinerator to REM Engineering, Roswell, GA for an estimated $355,000.
Illinois State University received a grant to develop and test a portable incinerator for destroying animal mortalities and tissues. REM Engineering developed the incinerator to meet the environmental requirements for gasification (incineration). The incinerator is unique to this company for this type of activity and is not available from any other source due to the specifications that are required to meet the needs of the grant.
This purchase is only economically available from a single source because the item or service is copyrighted or patented and is not available except from the holder of the copyright or patent. The incinerator we require must be a continuous flow model. The manufacturer is the only company that has designed a continuous flow incinerator for these types of products. All other incinerators are batch designs.
