for redevelopment of Northeastern Illinois University Web Site.
Northeastern Illinois University is seeking proposals from qualified firms to provide web site redevelopment services. The University desires to redevelop the NEIU web site to improve the user experience both aesthetically and technically, to make the site easier for producing and updating content, and to make the site more adaptable to timely technical maintenance by NEIU staff. A major goal of the site is to improve the accessibility of information and services to NEIU students, provide a link to web enabled interactive services provided by others, recruit new students, and provide information to NEIU faculty and staff via both internet and intranet connectivity.
The current NEIU web site, http://www.neiu.edu, was developed in the mid-nineties and has not been restructured for the past six years. The University requires a web site structure that facilitates the process for managing the conflicting demands of centralized top-down management of content, branding, look and feel, flexibility, independence, and decentralized control of data input and content management by campus units. We require a re-designed site that will become the vehicle for dynamic information distribution to our current students, employees and other external constituents while being attractive and interesting to prospective applicants, encouraging them to attend the University.
The contractor or contractors shall provide the technical expertise in the following areas to meet NEIU goals: web services, content design framework, content authoring facilitation, selection of the content management system, and web design. The redevelopment must address NEIU student and learning centered mission and marketing goals in a systematic and coordinated approach.
A mandatory pre-proposal meeting will be held on July 23, 2003 at 1:00PM CST on the second floor of the Student Union Buiding located on the NEIU campus.
