The low bid amount was $31,500. The low bidder is a new company that was not able to provide any work history references or list of current projects. The project site is in a residential neighborhood, and it is in the best interest of the University that the selected firm has a corporate reputation for reliability as well as experience with similar projects.
The University award process may be delayed up to thirty days as this award goes through a state approval process.

The Board of Trustees of Northeastern Illinois University hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the the demolition of the cottage project.

Northeastern Illinois University is seeking contractors to provide all necessary labor, material and equipment required to complete the project known as Demolition of Cottage, Project No. 31-000-0302, which includes demolition of the Cottage, removal of trees and backfilling earthen hole(s) remaining after demolition. Final completion of this project shall be no later than September 27, 2002. Bid Documents can be obtained by calling Facilities Management at 773/442-5230. Sealed envelopes containing the bids will be marked the demolition of the cottage. Bids will be received up to the hour of 10:00 AM local time, on Thursday, August 15, 2002. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.

All bids must include:

  • Bid security (see complete bid for details)
  • A letter from a surety company in substantially the form set forth in the Instructions to Bidders assuring the issuance of the Performance and Payment Bond.
  • All bidders must submit a PC-2 form as required by the Illinois Department of Human Rights.

A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. in Building H Training Room. See the University's web site at www.neiu.edu.
