The Board of Trustees of Northeastern Illinois University hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the Science Building Lighting Retrofit project (Bid # R1100SCI).

This project involves furnishing and installing all necessary labor, material and equipment required to complete replacing lamps and ballasts in all straight (linear) fluorescent lighting fixtures in the Science Building. Existing T-12 lamps and electromagnetic ballasts shall be replaced with new, energy efficient, T-8 lamps and electronic ballasts.

Bid documents will not be available until after February 16, 2001. Interested vendors may wish to contact the Facilities Management Office at 773:442-5230 to arrange document handling.

Sealed envelopes containing the bids will be marked Science Building Lighting Retrofit. Bids will be received up to the hour of 1:00 PM local time, on Thursday, March 15, 2001. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.

All bids must include:

  • Bid security (see complete bid for details)
  • A letter from a surety company in substantially the form set forth in the Instructions to Bidders assuring the issuance of the Performance and Payment Bond.
  • All bidders must submit a PC-2 form as required by the Illinois Department of Human Rights.

A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. in Building H, Training Room.
