Northeastern Illinois University is seeking proposals from qualified firms to provide a print control solution that addresses the University?s need to manage the printing output in its student computing labs and library.

Costs related to unrestricted printing have become untenable as this resource is utilized by an increasing number of lab users. The Department of Academic Computing at NEIU seeks to contain these costs by implementing a print control solution that will in general:

  • Regulate the number of free print jobs a user can have.
  • Regulate any end user charges associated with printing.
  • Justify its own expense purely by reduction in print volume without revenue generation.
  • Differentiate between classes of users via authentication to an existing LDAP server.
  • Provide a popup client for authentication on Windows and Macintosh workstations.
  • Release print jobs from release stations, one located at each lab printer.
Complete performance requirements are provided in the RFP document.
