The Board of Trustees of Northern Illinois University hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the pedestrian mall landscape improvements project.

This bid is for provision of, delivery of, and installation of trees, shrubs, and groundcover, and accessories for a pedestrian mall area located at NIU's DeKalb campus. One contract will be awarded to a vendor who will act as general contractor for this job. For questions regarding technical specifications and drawings, contact James Murphy at 815/753-1480. Plans will be available on Thursday, May 5, 2005, in NIU Procurement Services, Lowden Hall 107, DeKalb, IL. There is no charge for the plans.

Sealed envelopes containing the bids will be marked pedestrian mall landscape improvements. Bids will be received up to the hour of 2:00 PM local time, on Thursday, May 19, 2005. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.

All bids must include:

  • Bid security (see complete bid for details)
  • A letter from a surety company in substantially the form set forth in the Instructions to Bidders assuring the issuance of the Performance and Payment Bond.
  • All bidders must submit a PC-2 form as required by the Illinois Department of Human Rights.

Though no pre-bid meeting is scheduled, it is mandatory that bidders visit the job site prior to bidding. Contact James Murphy at 815/753-1480 to make an appointment to visit the job site.
