The Board of Trustees of Northern Illinois University hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the Dorland Building exterior masonry repair project.

This bid is to perform exterior masonry repair at the Dorland Building located at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL. One contract will be awarded to a vendor who will act as general contractor. For questions regarding specifications and drawings, contact Ben Ritter at 815/753-6258. Plans will be available on Tuesday, July 5, 2005, in NIU Procurement Services, Lowden Hall 107, DeKalb, IL. One set of documents per contractor will be provided at no charge. Additional sets may be purchased for $35 per set, non-refundable. No cash please.

Sealed envelopes containing the bids will be marked Dorland Building exterior masonry repair. Bids will be received up to the hour of 2:00 PM local time, on Wednesday, July 20, 2005. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.

All bids must include:

• Bid security (see complete bid for details)
• A letter from a surety company in substantially the form set forth in the Instructions to Bidders assuring the issuance of the Performance and Payment Bond.
• All bidders must submit a PC-2 form as required by the Illinois Department of Human Rights.

A pre-bid meeting will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2005, at 10:00 a.m., local time, at NIU Physical Plant, Conference Room 112. Bidders are strongly advised to be present. If you are unable to attend this meeting, contact Ben Ritter at 815/753-6258 to arrange an appointment to visit the job site.
