Project Description
NIU is accepting submittals of qualifications by architectural/engineering firms specializing in state-of-the-art technology specific to courtroom demonstations and presentations. The College of Law will remodel existing space into a "Skills Center" that would include a "smart" classroom, as well as the capability to provide another "moot courtroom" in the facility. The selected firm will assist the University in refinement of its project as well as provide the following services:
  • Complete design services including bidding documents necessary for the remodeling of space which includes demolition, new interior construction, and HVAC and electrical retrofitting
  • Complete design services including bidding documents necessary for the total integration of all special audio visual, telecommunications, and computer-aided systems including cable design and distribution
  • Complete design services including bidding documents necessary for the procurement of all fixtures, furnishings and equipment
  • Observance of all national codes, state procurement code, and university standards
  • Construction administration through completion and acceptance
Submittal Requirements
Although the project will be administered by NIU, use of the CDB standard form 255 is required for submittal of qualifications. Evidence of pre-qualification with the CDB is also required. Include resumes of key project personnel, descriptions of similar completed projects, and information regarding current workload and availability. Additional submittal information is optional.

A selection committee has been established by the University to review those firms submitting. This committee will evaluate all submittals and recommend a preferred firm based on the following weighted criteria:
  • 50% Successful completion of similar projects
  • 20% CDB and state university experience
  • 20% Responses of references listed on CDB SF255
  • 10% Minority and female business enterprise involvement
Submittal Due Date: July 6, 2001, 4:30 p.m.
